The Dominion Ridge Academy classroom promotes competence, confidence, and belonging.
It supports the development of knowledge in all core academic areas for all students with an emphasis on cognitive, social and emotional growth, skills for lifelong learning, and the importance of working together as a collaborative group.
This position requires but is not limited to the following duties:
Support and uphold the philosophy and mission of DRA to provide a learning environment to impart a Christian understanding of God, man, and the universe, based on Biblical and natural revelation through an integrated curriculum.
Provide effective grade-level instruction and assessment in Grammar, Reading, Spelling, Handwriting, Mathematics, Bible, History, and Science, based on the needs and capabilities of students.
Communicate clear objectives for all learning activities and create projects to enhance learning opportunities.
Create and maintain lesson plans, incorporating technology, project-based group and individual activities and experiential learning.
Use varied assessment tools to perform both formative and summative assessments.
Demonstrate a willingness to respond to individual learning needs through differentiated instruction and centers-based learning.
Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment.
Communicate and collaborate with parents, staff, and administration for optimal student progress regarding academic, behavioral, or safety concerns.
Demonstrate a commitment to remain current in professional practices and developments, informational technologies, and educational research applicable to your assigned grade-level classroom or or subject area.
Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
This is a contracted position for the 2022-2023 year, which begins July 1, 2022, and ends June 30, 2023.
Teachers work primarily mid-August through approximately June 1, however compensation is made throughout the contract period.
There are approximately 21 paid holidays during the school year for which full-time teachers are eligible, as well as 7 days paid time of for sick/personal leave.
Full-time employee benefits include free tuition for one enrolled child.
